“The Classical and Jazzy Nutcracker,” compares Tchaikovsky’s original holiday classic with Duke Ellington’s brilliant jazzy takes on Tchaikovsky’s scintillating melodies.
These programs outline the lives and music of Tchaikovsky and Duke Ellington, visit the differences between jazz and classical music, and compare and contrast their respective spectacular Nutcracker masterpieces.
This will be the first of seven monthly music learning programs we present at Bluffs of Lake City.
All programs are free and open to the public of all ages.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
