OboeBass! Lakeville Coffee Concert – Music of Childs, Goplerud, & Grieg

OboeBass! plays a mix of oboe/bass duos and solo works for oboe and double bass. OboeBass! previews an excerpt of Mary Ellen Childs’ Harvard Fromm Foundation Commission, a climate piece informed by sights, sounds, & scents from her sailing expedition to Svalbard. They also perform Timothy Goplerud’s “American Doodle: Variations for Polly.’ OboeBass! is Carrie Vecchione, oboe, and Rolf Erdahl, double bass, “the world’s only professional oboe/bass duo.”
Carrie Vecchione premieres a jazz suite for solo oboe and OboeBass! will perform duos by Timothy Goplerud. Rolf Erdahl and pianist William Eddins perform Edvard Grieg’s Sonata Op. 36 for Piano and Cello in Rolf’s transcription for double bass.
The Concert takes place Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 pm at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville MN 55044. Tickets can be ordered on line, by phone at 952-985-4640, or purchased at the door.
